We move houses for a living. But this Labor Day weekend, we’re letting someone try to move one of our trucks without turning the ignition on.
Eyring Movers is proud to sponsor the Strongman Champions League USA event returning to the Shores & Islands Ohio region, where elite strongman competitors will attempt to pull one of our moving trucks using nothing but their own strength. No engine, no wheels doing any of the work, just rope, harness, and raw effort against several tons of moving truck.
What the Strongman Competition Actually Is?
This isn’t the league’s first year in the area. The Strongman Champions League made its US debut here in 2025 and drew thousands of spectators; the event later aired as a two-episode special on Amazon Prime Video and Roku. The league was so taken with the region’s hospitality that it’s back for a second year.
This year, events in Sandusky, Ohio, run Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, 2026, spanning two host communities. Saturday’s action kicks off at the Erie-Ottawa International Airport in Port Clinton as part of the inaugural Rally on the Runway, with the festival running from noon to 5 p.m. and the strongman competition itself, including the truck pull, from 1 to 4 p.m. On Sunday, the competition moves to downtown Sandusky near Columbus Ave and Water St, starting at 1 p.m.
The competition draws professional strongman athletes from around the world, fourteen of them this year representing eleven countries. Events include classic strongman disciplines like the keg toss, atlas stones, and of course, the truck pull, which is exactly what it sounds like: a competitor harnessed to a loaded vehicle, racing the clock to drag it across a marked distance.
This isn’t a local novelty show. It’s a professional-level strongman competition Ohio has now hosted two years running, and Port Clinton and Sandusky are putting themselves on the map by hosting it right along the water.

What Competitors Will Have to Do?
The truck pull is one of the more demanding events in any strongman competition Ohio has seen. Competitors strap into a harness connected to the truck by a tow rope, then physically drag the vehicle across a set distance against the clock. There’s no running start and no help from a spotter once the clock starts. It comes down to leg drive, grip strength, and the ability to get a loaded vehicle moving from a dead stop, which is often the hardest part.
Whoever pulls our truck the fastest will have done something most people never come close to attempting.
Where and When You Can See It?
On Saturday, September 5, 2026, events begin at the Erie-Ottawa International Airport in Port Clinton, with the strongman competition, including the truck pull, running from 1 to 4 p.m. as part of the Rally on the Runway festival. On Sunday, September 6, the competition heads to downtown Sandusky near Columbus Ave and Water St, starting at 1 p.m., with a full waterfront program of strongman events and family activities, including the free Sandusky Library Little Legends Challenge for younger fans from 1 to 5 p.m.
Admission is free both days, making it an easy add to a Labor Day weekend already full of Sandusky, Ohio events for anyone in the area.

Eyring Movers has been part of Northeast Ohio since 1897, when the Eyring family started out moving furniture and pianos by horse-drawn wagon in Cleveland.
